Back to Basics pattern cutting and sewing course

The ‘Back to Basics’ course is available as three 2.5-hour sessions on consecutive Thursdays or a single 5-hour session on Saturdays.
Award-winning fashion designer Rebecca Street has created her own collections of bridal dresses and evening gowns for Browns, Harrods and Liberty, and couture showpieces for Alexander McQueen, Mulberry and Stella McCartney. Now, she will share her extensive experience with an exciting new ‘Back to Basics’ pattern cutting and sewing course.
Fit and sizing will be discussed, understanding your body and why things don’t fit. You’ll learn about different fabric qualities, plus how to lay and cut them out. You’ll adapt a commercial pattern to your measurements and learn how to cut it – without tailor tacks – to make a toile to fit you. With this amended pattern and a new understanding of construction, you can create a garment which perfectly fits. When something fits properly, we appear to drop a couple of dress sizes and increase our confidence tenfold!
The ‘Back to Basics’ course is ideal for those beginning or refreshing their pattern cutting and sewing skills. Interspersed, Rebecca will also offer an ‘One Day Intensive’ course on Saturdays for those with limited time.”
