about this event
There’s a new book out! My Acrostic Mother is Trisha Broomfield’s fourth poetry collection.
Taking time out from performing with the Booming Lovelies, (Sharron Green and Heather Moulson) Trisha has put together a collection of acrostic poems about life with her mother.
Illustrated deftly by fellow Lovely, Heather, the book is a gently humorous look back at the role of a ‘housewife ‘ in the 60s and 70s seen through the eye of a child. If you remember Round the Horne, the Home Perm and Pond’s Cold Cream, this assortment of memories is a must.
Trisha will be introducing and reading from her book (which you’ll be able to buy) in our gallery cafe and admittance is free.
“Trisha demonstrates yet again her unique talent for bringing very ordinary subjects to life through the medium of verse, this time with a cleverly crafted collection of acrostic poems dedicated to her mother. Her writing evokes a range of emotions, and the imagery is sublime. Trisha has stepped outside her poetic comfort zone and certainly shown that her talents are diverse, proving that the body of her work deserves the highest praise.” – Carol Ellis, poet (author of the ‘Mrs Yorkshire: the Baking Bard’ books)
