It's 1943 in the Solomon Islands. World War II is still raging and the US Navy has established several bases in this corner of the South Pacific in order to press towards New Guinea and the Central Pacific. One night American nurse Nellie Forbush (Mitzi Gaynor) meets French painter Emile de Becque (Rossano Brazzi), and a whirlwind romance begins. This Oscar-winning version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical features such songs as Some Enchanted Evening, There is Nothing Like a Dame, Happy Talk and I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair.
