about this event

Have you been watching The Great Pottery Throw Down, thought you might like to have a go at pottery yourself, or even follow in the footsteps of its judge Rich Miller who was once potter in residence here? Are you a complete beginner or a beginner who wants to refresh a few skills? If so, then why not come to our Pottery Taster Day when tutor Ian Round will be taking you through a variety of hand building techniques and maybe, just maybe, let you have a go on the potter's wheel? You might even make a mini-masterpiece which we'll fire for you later to come and collect in a couple of weeks!

There are limited spaces available and you'll need to wear old clothes (ideally bring an apron), close-toed shoes and a packed lunch, although our cafe will be open should you want to buy tea, coffee, soft drinks or some of our famous cake!
If you find you really enjoy it, you'll be pleased to know that we'll be hosting new pottery courses in the autumn to continue developing your techniques.
