about this event
Learn how to become your own strong, supportive, inner coach.
Discover how self-compassion is one of the most powerful ways to improve your resilience and wellbeing.
Led by mindfulness teacher and former GP, Claire Garthwaite.
Self-compassion is simply giving ourselves the same care and kindness that we would give to a good friend, who was having a difficult time. Yet very often we are kind to others, but treat ourselves very differently-we beat ourselves up or try to motivate ourselves with harsh self-criticism and end up feeling never good enough.
This workshop will introduce you to ways in which you can become more self-compassionate in your daily life.
There will be teaching, exercises, short meditations, discussion and a chance to ask questions.
You will learn
- To identify the three key components of self-compassion
- Techniques to increase self-compassion in everyday life
- How to motivate yourself with kindness rather than self-criticism
- The role of self-compassion in empathy fatigue
- The myths and misconceptions about self-compassion
- How to train further in self-compassion
Claire Garthwaite has trained at Centre for Mindful Self Compassion, USA. She teaches self-compassion, based on the work of researcher Kristen Neff and psychotherapist, Chris Germer. She has taught mindfulness based approaches for 9 years.
