In 2017 Jamal made his BBC Proms debut and won the Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award. His debut CD Russian Masters was released by Champs Hill Records to critical acclaim.

Highlights over the last year include appearances as soloist at the Royal Festival Hall with the Philharmonia Orchestra and with the Symphony Orchestra Simón Bolívar of Venezuela. He returned to Wigmore Hall, made his debut at the Istanbul Music Festival and premiered a new work by Karl Jenkins.

During 2018/19 Jamal makes his debut with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, Royal Philharmonic and CBSO Youth Orchestras, and appears as soloist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Ankara and Istanbul Symphony Orchestra.   Concert appearances include recitals at Wigmore Hall and the St. Magnus Festival, and an appearances as soloist in Classic FM Live at the Royal Albert Hall.

Jamal has performed in major festivals and venues including the Kronberg Festival, Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing) and Rachmaninov Hall (Moscow). In 2015 he was selected as one of the first BBC Introducing Classical Artists.

Born in Azerbaijan, Jamal studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and at the Royal College of Music. He was selected by YCAT in 2017 and won 2nd Prize in the Windsor Festival International Competition in 2019.

Jamal plays a Giovanni Battista Gabrielli cello (1756) on generous loan from a private individual through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
